Harburg-Freudenberger: 52,000 Euro Contribution to India’s Tsunami Victims

With a contribution of 52,000 Euro the staff of Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH gives financial assistance to the Tsunami victims in South-East India.

As early as in May the chairman of the board of directors of Harburg-Freudenberger, Frank Horch and the chairman of the works council, Hartmut Menn handed over the contribution to Aktion Indien e.V., an organization represented by Dr. Johannes Mispagel. Aktion Indien e.V. will use the money to build lodgings for needy children in Neerpair near Chennai. So far, a school has also been built in this location.

The staff members of the works in Harburg and Freudenberg as well as the managing directors have assigned both, days of holiday as well as overtime and money pay to help the people in India in their emergency. The sum collected amounts to 26,000 €. This amount was still doubled by a contribution on the side of the company.

“With this gesture we want to put on a light in times we live in a world divided into two parts”, said Frank Horch. “We have the good fortune to live on the well-to-do side while people at the other side urgently need our help.” The vital spark of this contribution project has been the wish to support a concrete project in the country of one of Harburg-Freudenberger’ s customers.

Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH has formerly been a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG. The sale of the firm in March of this year to the company L. Possehl & Co. mbH domiciled in Lübeck has made it necessary to change the corporate name. In the financial year 2003/2004, Harburg-Freudenberger has attained a turnover of 145 million € and has worldwide a work force of around 1050 persons.
